Rocketbook vs. Vellee — Things in Common

  • Erasing – Both Rocketbook Everlast and Vellee, can be entirely erased, just by using a damp microfiber cloth ( make sure to never use alcohol-based wipes!). This method is very easy and leaves no mess. Just ensure to wait a few seconds before using your notebook, to avoid smearing.

Please do not expose your smart notebook to heat, as it will cause the ink to disappear. And while the Elfinbook has the option of being entirely erasable, by placing it in the microwave, it is not advisable to use this method on Rocketbook or Vellee smart notebooks, unless you have the Rocketbook Wave.

  • Pilot Frixion Pen – These types of smart notebooks can only be used with Pilot Frixion Pens. If you try to use an ordinary pen, you won’t be able to erase it after, thus damaging your notebook in the long run.

The magic of pilot frixion pens comes from the ink. The ink consists of different types of chemical compounds, depending on acid-base and the temperature. When you rub the ink with the pen’s rubber tip, the heat from the resulting friction makes the temperature-sensing compound to release the acid compounds, causing the ink to fully disappear!

You can purchase several colors, as well as different types of highlighters and other tools to enhance your writing experience.

Both Rocketbook Everlast and Vellee smart notebook comes with one already included.

  • Reusability – Both smart notebooks can be used countless times. Up to 500 times for Vellee, and unlimited for Rocketbook Everlast (hence its name!)

Even if Vellee does have an eventual end date, 500 times is a lot. Imagine using 500 notebooks, that is a lifetime of use for most of us! Imagine how much money and space you’d save by just having one or two notebooks.

This type of smart notebook is suited for everyone, especially for students and artists.

You can also save all your notes by uploading them to Google Drive, OneNote, Box and more.

  • App Support and Cloud Sync – You can use Camscanner app for Velle and Rocketbook app, for both iOS and Android devices. By doing so, you have the ability to send, upload or retrieve your information at any time, from anywhere.

Share your work and sketches with your colleagues or family members easily across all cloud services such as Google Drive, Evernote, Slack, OneDrive and more.

All you need to do is to hold your phone camera above the pages, and almost instantly the app detects and captures each page, producing images even more crisp than the real thing in both PDF and JPG form.

Also, with Rocketbook you can mark each page with a coinciding symbol, which informs the Rocketbook app where to send the content after.

  • Cover – Both models sport a plastic cover, which to some may feel a little fragile and not as durable as smart technology should be.

The plastic cover also reflects a more traditional style, that many of us are used to. If you’d prefer a sturdier hardcover for your book, you can check out other brands such as Elfinbook X as it comes in a leather-bound hardcover.

Rocketbook vs. Vellee — Differences

Rocketbook Everlast

  • Difference #1: Page Material and Number – In terms of the number of pages, Velle comes out ahead with 60 vs. 36, leaving you with even more pages to fill up with content.

Though, due to the fact that the notebooks can be easily erased near countless times, shouldn’t put the buyer off if there are fewer pages in the Rocketbook Everlast.

    Yet the material might.

Rocketbook Everlast has a more glossy feel to its pages, while Vellee offers a more traditional paper-like texture, as it’s made from eco-friendly stone paper. Those of you who prefer an old- school notebook, that doesn’t differ too much, Vellee might be a better option. Also, Everlast’s synthetic poly-blend pages need a good few 10-15 seconds of drying time, especially if you’re left-handed as the pages tend to smear.

Vellee smart notebook provides you with 20 pages of wide-ruled paper, 20 pages of dot grid paper and 20 pages of plain, blank paper. These types of choices offer more versatility in terms of writing or drawing. Which suits all types of users such as students, engineers, artists and more.

While Rocketbook Everlast offers only dot grid pages. Which are still useful for many types of creations. And since the dots disappear when you scan the pages, this makes it easier for users who don’t want the guides to show up in their scan. Meaning that only blank pages with your work will show up on the screen.

  • Difference #2: Appearance – In terms of size, Rocketbook Everlast is a little longer than Vellee. ( 8.5’’ x 11’’ vs. 6.9″x9.8’’).

As it’s a slightly bigger version, it may be more suited for long notes or sketching. While Vellee’s more compact size is smaller and handier for carrying around with you (e.g, in your backpack).

Both notebooks sport a spiral, plastic-type of binding, which is useful for adding or reordering your pages around. Though some people complain that spine books would be generally more preferred, as you don’t have to worry about tearing, or losing any pages.

As for the color options, both models offer a quiet few choices to pick from. Rocketbook color options include darker color tones of Red, Black, Midnight Blue, and Teal. Which offer a more classy feel.

While Vellee offers brighter tones of Orange, Blue, and Light Grey, to suit your personality. Or you can opt for Black if you prefer a more simple design.
