UE Blast vs. Boom 3— Differences
Difference #1: Run-Time – A good run time is a pretty vital feature in any smart speaker, as it will determine how much of listening time you can expect from your device.
While there isn’t a huge difference between the two, the UE Boom 3 has a longer run time of 15 hours, compared to Blast’s 12.
As we said, not a big difference, but that extra couple of hours could come in handy at your next dance party!
Difference #2: Magic Button – Having on-device controls can come in pretty handy when you don’t have your smart device on you, or simply if you’re more old fashioned.
Luckily, both UE Smart speakers have physical buttons that allow you to turn the device off or on, as well as regulate the volume.
However, Boom 3 also comes with a function called the “Magic”’ button which allows you to play, pause or skip a track.
Additionally, it also has a unique function that lets you simply press and hold the button, which will switch on the speaker as well as automatically connect it with your phone and start playing a preset playlist.
This addition allows for a wider and more efficient way of controlling your smart speaker.
Difference #3: WiFi & Alexa – A pretty big difference between the two devices, is the fact that UE Blast not only connects with Bluetooth, it’s also compatible with your WiFi network!
This means that you can take advantage of UE Blast’s in-built Alexa voice assistant for hands-free control over your smart speaker, as well as other connected devices.
Additionally, this means that you can access even more streaming partners such as Spotify, Deezer, Pandora, iHeartRadio, and more!
Keep in mind that Alexa only works via WiF, so if your device is paired with your smartphone via Bluetooth and you decide to ask Alexa to switch off the lights, it will automatically transition to a WiFi connection if available.
Having an in-built Alexa feature in your speaker is a great way to set the mood when listening to your favorite tracks, whether it be to dim the lights, or order a pizza, Alexa has you covered.
However, some functions such as drop-in messaging, calling, and announcements that you’d find on Alexa enabled devices such as Echo Show 8, aren’t available for UE Blast.
Difference #4: App Control – Both UE Blast and Boom 3 offer app control which allows you to customize the EQ level to your taste, and pair up two speakers for that desired stereo effect for an enhanced audio experience.
But there are a couple of differences between the two.
For example, with Boom 3 you can take advantage of the Party Up function, to connect more than 100+ Boom and Megaboom speakers for an intense listening experience.
Similarly, you also have the Block Party option, which allows you and your friends to DJ through your Boom speakers, and lastly, you can also turn on or off your Boom speaker remotely since it uses a WiFi connection, so you never have to worry about leaving on as you’re on your way out!
While UE Blast doesn’t have the Party Up feature in the app, you still can connect up to eight Megablast & Blast Speakers for an immersive sound experience.
Difference #5: Size & Design – UE Black and Boom appear to be quite similar to each other in terms of design, they both have that cylindrical shape that’s both practical and modern, and can easily be fit into a cup holder in the car, or in your backpack’s side pocket.
However, UE Blast is a tad bit larger with its dimensions of 5.6” x 10.1” x 5.5” vs. Boom’s 2.9”x 2.9” x 7.2” smaller measurements.
Additionally, both speakers also come in a wide range of fun, dual-toned color options to choose from, that both suit your style, and give an aesthetic feel wherever you are.
