Two-Way Audio – Now you don’t even have to open your door in order to talk with someone! As both Simplisafe and Ring Pro come with the two-way audio feature, which allows you to effectively communicate with anyone, via your smart device. So now you can easily instruct your delivery man on where to leave your package, from anywhere in your home.

Live-View on Demand – You can also use both doorbells to pull the live feed of your front door and see anyone outside your door in clear 1080p HD vision. Using the live-view on-demand technology, you won’t have to wonder about who is at your door late at night.

Night Vision – Did we say late at night? Both Simplisafe and Ring Pro come with the night vision feature, so you won’t have to worry about that noise outside created by raccoons going through your rubbish in the middle of the night.

Zoom – Need a closer look? Luckily both smart doorbells allow you to zoom in on any video recordings, so you can get a closer look at the culprit who ran off with your package.

Simplisafe Video Doorbell vs. Ring Pro — Differences

SimpliSafe Video Doorbell

Difference #1: Power Options & Installation – Both Simplisafe and Ring Pro are required to be hardwired into your existing doorbell. And while it may sound like a bother, it really isn’t overly complicated as you may think. Both smart doorbells come with detailed instructions, and you can also easily find Youtube videos describing the process.

When installing your Simplisafe doorbell, you’ll need an existing doorbell transformer (8-24V) in place, as well as a 2.4GHz network connection. Be sure to check your connection prior, as it needs to be strong and reliable enough to pass through walls, all the way to your doorbell. For Simplisafe, a 2.4GHz connection is required.

Similarly, for Ring Pro, an 8-24 VAC transformer is required (DC not compatible), and a network connection of 2.4GHz or 5GHz.

Difference #2: Field of View – A good field of view is an important feature for your smart doorbell. It’s what allows you to have the best possible coverage of the area outside your door. And this is where Simplisafe comes out slightly ahead, with it’s 162° horizontal view, compared to Ring Pro’s 160° horizontal and 100° vertical.

While it may not seem like a lot, those extra 2 degrees could determine you being able to identify the culprit who kicked that football in your flowerbed.

Difference #3: Motion Detection – While both Simplisafe and Ring Pro have impressive motion detection technology, they’re still quite different from each other.

For example, Ring Pro sports an impressive advanced motion detection that captures an image, and then uses it as a reference. So when the pixels of the saved image change, the motion zones will alert you on your smart device. Which is pretty impressive for a smart doorbell.

While Simplisafe uses its unique dual-sensors to tell the difference between people, or just passing cars. Not only that, but it also utilizes technology which can identify the heat signature of people, so you won’t get any unnecessary alerts.

However, Ring Pro comes out ahead with its ability to have motion zones with up to 8 customizable points, so you can monitor specific areas, such as the designated area for your delivered packages or where your car is parked.

Unfortunately, Simplisafe Video Doorbell doesn’t allow you to set custom motion zones.

Difference #4: Google Assistant & Alexa – The other noticeable difference between Ring Pro and Simplisafe, is that Ring Pro allows you to use voice command assistants such as Google and Alexa. Allowing you to have hands free control over your smart doorbell whenever you want. And you do impressive things like answering the door completely by voice using your Amazon Echo Show.

Difference #5: App Control – Both smart doorbells have downloadable apps that you can get on your iOS or Android device. Though the Ring Pro also comes with a compatible Web app too. Which is pretty handy for those of you who work on the computer a lot, or even when you simply don’t have your smartphone on you.

Difference #6: Subscription Plan – Having a subscription plan for your smart doorbell, allows you to take advantage of even more features. The main one being an extended video storage plan.

The Ring Pro offers two subscription plans to choose from, Protect Basic and Protect Plus. In the Protect Basic Plan, which comes at 3 USD per month or 30 USD per year, you’ll be able to take advantage of 30 or 60 days of video storage depending on your location, which you can then download, review, and share with anyone.

While Protect Plus offers the same benefits as the Basic Plan, but you can also take advantage of Ring Alarm professional monitoring, and even up to 10% off any Ring Products. Protect Plus comes to 10 USD per month, and 100 USD if you decide to play annually.

With Simplisafe, you’re essentially just paying for Cloud storage. It also offers two plans, one provides you with 30 days of storage and comes to 4.99 USD per month for a single doorbell. If you have multiple Simplisafe doorbells or security cameras on your property, you can also pay a fee of 9.99 USD per month, and that will cover all of them.

So in terms of benefits, Ring Pro offers a lot more in terms of storage, and other benefits.

However, if you want to be completely subscription-free, take a look at the SkyBell HD.

Difference #7: Design – In terms of style, both Simplisafe and Ring Pro have similar dimensions, with Ring Pro having a more rectangular design that more closely resembles a traditional doorbell.

When it comes to color options, Ring Pro offers a lot more. It comes with four interchangeable different color faceplates so you can choose with suits your home and style the best. While Simplisafe comes in a simple, yet modern, white finish.
