SimCam AI vs. Nest Cam IQ — Things in Common
On-Demand Live View – Both SimCam AI and Nest Cam IQ smart cameras offer a clear 1080p HD live feed, paired with its 30FPS, you can expect crisp images and vibrant footage from your iOS or Android smart device.
Being able to access your live view footage from your smartphone gives you the freedom to check in on your home from anywhere in the world.
Night Vision – Same goes for night time too! All three smart cameras offer enhanced night vision capabilities especially Nest Cam Indoor with its 940 nm LED which illuminates up to 25 feet, and SimCam’s starlight technology that clearly shows people’s faces and objects even in pitch-black darkness.
So now you won’t have to worry about grainy footage or low-quality feed during the night.
Power Options – You can connect both Nest Cam IQ and SimCam AI via AC for a continuous power source. If you prefer to own a wireless camera you should check out Arlo Ultra Smart Camera, as it can be powered by rechargeable batteries, AC and even a Solar Panel.
Two-Way Audio – Direct the delivery man on where to leave your package, or greet your kids when they arrive home from school via the two-way audio technology.
This allows you to seamlessly communicate with anyone using your smartphone, so you can still be present no matter where you are.
Motion Detection – Keep a closer eye on your home via motion detection technology. This allows you to receive alerts whenever there’s someone or something detected with your smart camera’s field of view, which can even alert of a potential intruder inside, or outside your home both day and night.
Person Detection – SimCam AI and Nest Cam IQ smart cameras are smart enough to tell the difference between a person and a thing, notifying you with a snapshot or clip of the person detected.
Face Recognition – Facial recognition software will provide you with alerts that matter. However, there is a slight difference between SimCam AI and Nest Cam IQ when it comes to how this feature is executed.
With SimCam AI you can create snapshots of your, or the faces of your loved ones which are then saved in its memory for future reference, so it will only alert you when an unfamiliar face is detected.
While Nest Cam IQ can recognize the familiar faces of your family members and friends over time. You can train your Nest Cam IQ to recognize faces via settings, as whenever a new face is identified you’ll be asked whether you know them after which you’ll select yes or no.
Keep in mind that you’ll need to be subscribed to Nest Aware in order to take advantage of this feature.
Network – You can connect either smart camera to a 2.4GHZ, as well as a 5GHz network link, for an even more reliable and stronger connection.
Smart Home Integration – In terms of smart home integration, all 3 smart cameras support Alexa, Google Assistant, and even IFTTT, when paired with Echo Show, Echo Spot or Google Hub, (with the exception of Nest Cam IQ indoor, with its built-in Google).
When using Alexa or Google Assistant, you have complete hands free control over your smart camera, meaning that you can check in on your kids or the postman without even having to lift a finger.
While IFTTT allows you to seamlessly connect your smart devices together, by creating applets or commands to get them to talk to each other. For example, you can have your smart light turns orange when motion is detected, or log all incoming motion alerts straight into your Google Drive for more efficient control over your smart camera.
SimCam AI vs. Nest Cam IQ — Differences
Difference #1: Supersight – Nest Cam’s IQ supersight technology allows the smart camera to automatically zoom in on and track people moving about within its sight. This can be useful when keeping an eye on your kids, or even if you notice someone suspicious outside.
Unfortunately, SimCam AI doesn’t have this feature yet.
Difference #2: Field of View & Mechanical Pan – In terms of the field of view, Nest Cam IQ Indoor & Outdoor are identical with their 130° wide-angle view, which does allow you to have a decent view of the front porch or room.

Difference #3: Local Storage – Having local backup storage available, ensures that your motion clips and videos will be stored safely within your camera, in the case of any network connection breaks.
Luckily, SimCam comes with an impressive microSD card storage of up to 128GB, which will not only allow you to store all your clips safely but will also enable the 24/7 recording function as well!
Unfortunately, both Nest IQ Indoor and Outdoor don’t have local storage available.

While for both Nest IQ Cameras you have the option for storing 3-hour snapshot worth of history, as well as opt for the Nest Aware plan which offers three tiers to choose from.
Nest Aware includes both extra storage as well as additional features to take advantage of, and is separated into a 5-day plan for a monthly fee of $5, 10-day for $10 and 30-day at $30 per month.
Additionally, you’ll also have 24/7 CVR for all your Nest cameras, intelligent alerts and access to custom motion zones, all of which are included for free with SimCam AI.
Difference #6: Object Detection – The object detection technology is only available to SimCam AI, and it allows you to draw a frame via live feed interface around any object you’d like to keep an eye on, i.e cookie jar. After which, you’ll get alerted whenever the jar is moved, straight to your smart device, how cool is that?
Difference #7: Motion Zones – Setting up motion zones allow you to monitor specific areas that you wish to keep a closer eye on, such as the staircase, nursery or the garage.
While both Nest Cam IQ and Sim Cam AI offer this handy technology, you’ll need to be subscribed to Nest Aware in order to take advantage of this function with Nest IQ, while SimCam AI has this feature freely available, and can be accessed via the SimCam app.
Difference #8: Stringify – Stringify is a mobile app that helps to bring digital things together to help create experiences, save time & money, stay healthy, and have fun! By integrating your Nest Cam IQ smart cameras with the Stringify app, you are able to connect and interact with up to 600 smart home products and digital services!
So you can arm, disarm your Nest Cam, receive low battery notifications, regulate audio, and more.
Unfortunately, SimCam AI doesn’t integrate with Stringify.
Difference #9: Sound Detection – With Nest Cam IQ Indoor & Outdoor you can also expect to receive sound detection alerts, so it can also pick up unexpected noises like your dog barking, or a baby crying.
This feature is only available to Nest Cam IQ Indoor & Outdoor Cams.
Difference #10: Design – Nest Cam IQ Outdoor and SimCam AI are quite similar in size, while Nest Cam Indoor is larger with its measurements of 5 x 3.7 in.
The SimCam AI features a more rounded design, and its discrete size is quite similar to the Arlo Smart Cameras, while Nest IQ Cams are much more rounded, with a longer base.

SimCam AI vs. Nest Cam IQ — Our Thoughts
It’s pretty clear that Nest Cam IQ Indoor is perfect for indoors with its superior video quality and built in Google Assistant. And the Nest Cam IQ Outdoor is unbeatable when it comes to handling extreme temperatures.
However, when it comes between Nest Cam IQ and SimCam AI, we feel that SimCam is the way to go.
Its main selling point has to be the fact the you can take advantage of all its smart features without the need to opt for any subscription plans, as well as it’s impressive 360° pan that will offer you optimal coverage.
Additionally, SimCam also comes with a lower price tag, excellent smart home integration (minus Stringify), expansive local storage, and is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, making it the superior model out of the three.
