Ring Door View Cam vs. Ring Pro— Things in Common
Video Quality – Both Ring Door View Cam and Ring Pro provide clear 1080p HD video quality. Allowing you to monitor your property in high-quality video, as well as check in on your home anytime with the live view on-demand video, and audio.
Night View – Night View is an important feature to have when it comes to your home security. Even if it’s as something as mild as a stray raccoon going through your trash outside, or a loved one returning home late, night vision will allow you to keep an eye on things.
Subscription Plan – You can take even more advantage of the great technology by opting for a Ring subscription plan. While the initial 30 days are free of charge, after which you’ll have the option of choosing the plan best suited for you.
You can choose the free plan, which includes two-way communication, theft protection, motion-activated notifications , and a 1-year warranty. This plan will provide you with the necessary tools to start you off.
But if you wish to have even more access to some features, you can get the Protect Basic or Protect Plus which will include benefits such as, video sharing, 60-day video history, and more.
And you don’t have to break the bank to do so! The Basic plan comes at 3 USD per month or 30 per year. While the Protect Plus comes to 10 USD per month, or 100 yearly. A small price to pay for extra security.
Keep in mind that the Plus plan also covers all Ring devices at the one address. Which includes professional monitoring for a Ring Alarm.
Two-Way Audio – Both Ring Door View Cam and Ring Pro have this handy feature. Two-way audio allows you to listen and communicate with anyone who is on your doorstep.
For example, if you aren’t able to come to the door at this time, you can simply ask them to wait a moment, or instruct the delivery man to leave your package on the porch if your hands are full.
Either way, two-way talk is convenient and even safe to communicate with anyone who is outside your home.
Easy Installation – Whichever doorbell you decide to go for, rest assured that the installation process won’t be complicated, and you’ll be provided the tools necessary to get you going.
Alexa – Alexa is both handy and a fun tool to have, and the Ring doorbell series isn’t an exception.
Alexa will notify you if someone is at the door, and you can even communicate with your visitors by using select Echo devices (such as Echo Show). Simply say ‘’Alexa, show me my Door View Cam’’ and you’ll have a clear vision of who is at the door at any time.
Motion Detection – Feel extra secure with motion detection technology.
With the Ring doorbells, you’ll be constantly notified when any outside activity is detected. And if that’s something you find annoying, especially in a busy neighborhood, you have the option of adjusting the sensitivity of your motion sensors to find your ideal setting.
Ring Door View Cam vs. Ring Pro — Differences
Difference #1: Power Options & Installation – It’s worth to note that Ring Door View Camera uses a rechargeable battery as its power source, as opposed to Ring Pro which needs to be hardwired to an existing application, or to new wiring.
So in terms of installation, all you’ll need to do with Door Cam is simply unscrew and remove the existing peephole on your door with the tool included.
While with Ring Pro, you will need an appropriate main cable to supply power to the transformer (16V-24V), and then a bell wire to connect the side of the transformer, to the doorbell.
While the rechargeable battery does sound appealing especially during a power outage, having a doorbell that is hardwired will eliminate the need to recharge the battery and save you time in the long run too.
Difference #2: Field of View – Field of View is crucial when it comes to checking motion activity. So it goes without saying that you want to get the best coverage possible.
While the difference between the two models isn’t particularly steep, Ring Pro does pull ahead with its 160 degrees horizontal, and 100 degrees Vertical, as opposed to Ring Door View Cam’s 155 degrees horizontal, and 90 degrees vertical.
As already mentioned, there isn’t a huge difference, but those few degrees might play quite an important role when trying to identify a package thief.
Difference #3: Custom Motion Zones – Another useful feature that Ring Pro has, is the ability to set custom Motion Zones. This means it will constantly create recordings of someone or something that trespasses in a certain area you have mapped in your settings.
It can be anywhere within the view range.
Such as the designated area for your packages, or the spot where you have a spare hidden key. Unfortunately, Ring Door View Cam doesn’t have this feature available.
Difference #4: Design – In terms of design, Ring Pro offers more options with its interchangeable colored faceplates. You can choose between Satin Nickel, Pearl, Venetian, and Black to suit your taste and style.
Unfortunately, the faceplates for Ring Door View Camera are not here yet but are coming soon. For now, you have the Black with Satin Nickel Trim available, which still looks modern and attractive for any home.
In terms of dimensions, Ring Door View Cam is slightly smaller with measurements of 2.26” x 4.40” x 1.16” vs.4.50”. x 1.85” x 0.80”.
Difference #5: Price – When it comes to the price, View Cam comes at a more budget-friendly price than Ring Pro. Keeping in mind that Ring Pro does offer more features, such as the custom motion zones and a variety of color designs.
Difference #6: Knock Detection – Door View Cam pulls out ahead with its unique built-in impact sensor. As we already mentioned, Ring Door View Cam does replace the peephole during the installation process, so they decided to make up for it with the knock detection feature.
Like the name already suggests, this technology lets you know when someone comes knocking, so you’ll never miss a visitor, even if they didn’t press the doorbell.
