Petcube Play vs. Petcube Play 2 — Differences

Petcube Play

Difference #1: Alexa – While both Petcube Play and Petcube Play 2 support Alexa, Petcube Play 2 is definitely far more advanced by having Alexa already built-in!

Meaning that you won’t need to pair your Petcube up with Echo Show, Echo Spot or any other smart speakers in order to take advantage of your voice assistant. All you need to do is press a button in the app, and you’re ready to take advantage of engaging voice commands such as, “Alexa, tell Petcube to play with my pet,” and “Alexa, tell Petcube to play for 10 minutes”.

Voice control could become even easier in the future for your Petcube Play 2 with the inclusion of ESP feature.

ESP stands for “Echo Spatial Perception”. A technology created specifically for Alexa-enabled devices, which works by activating the speaker that’s closest to you.

For example, if you already have an Echo Show or Dot, and you pair up your Petcube Play 2 with Alexa already built-in, both the Echo smart speaker and Petcube’s Alexa will respond, which can be very annoying.

However, ESP technology will ensure that only the closest speaker to Alexa will reply.

While currently, Petcube doesn’t support this feature, hopefully in the near future they will enable the ESP technology like ecobee with their Alexa-enabled thermostat.
