Lutron Will Start Working with SmartThings Early 2017

Lutron Caséta Wireless and SmartThings

The 2017 Consumer Electronics Show had a lot of great announcements for smart home geeks. One of which is that Lutron Caséta Wireless and SmartThings will work together along with Nest devices to make your smart home automation easier and more comfortable.

Lutron Caseta Wireless Family — a Quick Overview:

Lutron is one of the first companies to produce smart home lighting. It has been on the market over 25 years. Lutron Caséta Wireless Family is made up of dimmers, a remote control, a bridge, and an app. You can buy a starter kit and then add as many dimmers and Pico remote controls as you’d like.

Just keep in mind that you only need one Lutron Smart bridge/Smart Bridge Pro per house. Also, Lutron Caseta Wireless dimmers can be controlled via an App only if you have Lutron hub (Smart Bridge or Smart Bridge Pro). You need the Lutron Bridge plugged into your router to act as translator between Lutron dimmers, SmartThings devices, and an App.

Smart Home — Connected Home

With a great range of smart home devices it gets hard to make them all work together. Browsing dozens of compatibility guides will drive insane even the most patient customers. The good news is that Lutron understands it and offers not only a smart home, but a connected home. Lutron has announced that early this year, Caséta Wireless customers will be able to seamlessly connect their system dimmers and Lutron Serena Shades to the Samsung SmartThings app. It’ll prove another option of control and convenience and create a more complete smart home.
Once it’s all set, the Lutron Caséta Wireless Family will work with SmartThings devices like:

  • Voice assistants (Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, Amazon Tap, and Google Home);
Echo Dot (2nd Generation) - Smart speaker with Alexa - Black

  • Lighting and Switches (Leviton switches, dimmers, wall stations, receiver switches, and speed controlers; Osram Lights; Philips Hue;);

  • Outlets (Leviton and Samsung SmartThings outlet);
  • Sensors (Samsung SmartThings motion and water sensor);
  • Cameras and Doorbells (Netgear and Ring Video Doorbell);
  • Thermostats (Honeywell and Ecobee);
  • And a lot of other appliances.

One of main Lutron’s goal is to offer not only a smart home, but a connected home. Therefor, Lutron Caséta Wireless also united with the whole Nest family. You can find more about it in this blog post:
